Obituary: Valeria Stacia Lane

Valeria Stacia Lane dies at the age of 92.

Valeria Stacia Lane, of Walden, VT, formerly of Danbury, passed away March 24, 2012, at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 12, 1920, in Danbury, Connecticut, the last surviving child of the late Paul and Antoinette (Jesionowski) Chmielewski.

She attended St. Peter School in Danbury. On April 27, 1946, she married Harry Leroy Lane in Danbury, where they made their home until moving to Vermont in the 1970's. In her earlier years she was employed by the Newman Endler Hat Co. in Danbury. She was a member of , the women's group of that church and the Polish American Citizens Club auxiliary, all in Danbury. She also attended St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardwick, VT and she enjoyed crocheting.


Survivors include many nieces and nephews. Valeria was predeceased by her husband, Harry, on January 22, 2012 , and five siblings, John and Casimir Chmielewski, Mildred Sholtes, Nellie Burzenski and Florence Belorit.

Friends may call at the 57 Main St, Danbury, CT on Saturday, March 31, 2012, from 8:30 to 9:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Danbury, at 10 am on Saturday. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Cottage Street, Danbury, CT. 06810.
