Obituary: Renaissance Woman Jeannine C. Lombardo, 69

Former owner of Prints Charming and loving mother, grandmother and "cool aunt."

Jeannine C. Lombardo, 69, of Brookfield, loving wife of 50 years to Joseph Lombardo, died Tuesday, July 23 at Danbury Hospital. She was born Jan. 29, 1944. She is the daughter of the late, Leonard and Rosalie Stegen. She was born in Membruggen, Belgium and immigrated to the U.S. in September 1965 with her husband to pursue the American Dream.

Jeannine and Joe lived and raised their two girls in Danbury and in Newtown, later on moving to Brookfield. While living in Newtown, Jeannine owned and operated Prints Charming, a local fabric store. She later was employed at Chase Manhattan Bank as a bank teller for several years until her and her husband retired.

Jeannine adored her family and was very close to all of them. She was a devoted mother and loving grandmother. She was compassionate, understanding and always in your corner. She was the cool aunt that all her nieces and nephews wanted to be around. She was a beautiful, cultured and intelligent woman that was just so much fun and full of life. She welcomed anyone into her home and always tried to make them feel special.

Everything Jeannine did, she did well. At the young age of 8, she learned how to cook and sew. She cooked everything from scratch from her gardens. She loved the outdoors spending hours in her floral and vegetable gardens and hanging by the pool with her grandchildren. She made many of her own clothes, as well as her daughters as they were growing up. She had other interests that included interior design, reading, nutrition and was avidly into physical fitness. She could tile, wallpaper and paint. She modeled and remodeled five separate homes. Name it she could do it and if she couldn’t, she would teach herself.

Jeannine is survived by husband Joseph Lombardo; daughters Nancy Wildman, Dominique Zuzelo and her husband Terrence Dempsey; grandchildren Kyle James and Deanna Lyn Wildman and Joseph Anthony and Ryan Thomas Zuzelo; brothers, Pierre and Willie Stegen; and her sister, Rosine Stegen all of Belgium. Jeannine is predeceased by three sisters, Yvette, Paula and Lia.
