Obituary: Pasquale Granata

Pasquale Granata died December 3, 2011 at the age of 94.

Pasquale Granata, of Danbury, loving husband of Jean (Pallito) Granata, died at Danbury Hospital on Saturday, December 3, 2011. He was born on October 4, 1917 in Minturno, Italy, son of the late Luciano and Maddalena (Tuccinardi) Granata.

He was a Veteran of World War II, proudly serving in the United States Army. He was a recipient of the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medals, Combat Infantry and Expert Infantry Badges.

Granata enjoyed his work at Sam Grasso Construction Company in Darien. He was a member of the Piedmont Club in Darien for many years. He was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans and the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge, both in Danbury. He loved gardening, playing pinochle, poker, cooking and traveling.

He will be lovingly remembered as one who was happiest with simple things, being surrounded by those he loved, and enjoying good food.

Along with his wife Jean, he is survived by two daughters, Patricia Lawrence and her husband Frank of Danbury and Doreen DiIorio and her husband Cladinoro of Bethel; his son, Craig Granata of South Carolina; six grandchildren, Stacey, Marleena, Rebecca, Joseph, Dominique and Deionisio; three great grandchildren, Nicholas, Timothy and Sophia.

A Celebration of Pasquale Granata’s Life will take place at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Monday, December 5 at 7 pm.  Calling hours will be on Monday, December 5 between the hours of 4 pm and 8 pm at the Brookfield Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, 41 Hecker Avenue, Darien, on Tuesday, December 6 at 11 am.
