Obituary: Nerline Williams

Nerline Williams dies at the age of 71.

Nerline (Narline) Williams (nee Reid) died on Feb. 25, 2012, at her home in Danbury, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Wilmoth (Willie) Williams.

She was born in Marlie Hill, Manchester, Jamaica on Feb. 1, 1941, a daughter of the late Norman E. and Icilda Leonora (Birdie) Reid. She was trained as a nurse in England at the Batley Hospital in Yorkshire. She returned to Jamaica and worked at the Mandeville Public Hospital, Holmwood Technical High School, and Hope Institute Cancer Hospital. In the United States, she worked at in oncology and surgery and at for many, many years until she retired. She was a faithful member of Faith Church where she served as a greeter and in the Children’s’ Ministry. She also enjoyed photography, reading, sewing and flower gardening.

In addition to her husband of 37 years, she is survived by children: Carol, Andrew, Sean, Gregory, Claudia, and Mark; children-in-law: Charles, Olga, Leigh, Eric and Melanie; grandchildren: Cafui, Xavier, Isaiah, Elijah, Asher, Jackson, and Morgan; siblings: Lincoln, Buston, Wilberforce (Linval), Rose and Larry; numerous nieces nephews and other family members in Jamaica, United States, England and Canada and many dear friends.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at 11 am at the Faith Church, 600 Danbury Road, New Milford, CT. Interment will follow at Wooster Cemetery, Danbury. The family will receive friends at Faith Church on Thursday from 10 am until the time of the service.
