Obituary: John J. Pendergast IV

John J. Pendergast, IV, 21, of New Fairfield, CT passed away on Sunday at Danbury Hospital from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident.

He was the son John J., III and Amy S. Pendergast of New Fairfield. John John was born in Danbury, and attended New Fairfield Schools. He was a 2011 graduate of New Fairfield High School, and while attending he was an All-State Lacrosse player.  John John attended Naugatuck Community College.  He had most recently worked at Halas Farm in Danbury.

A Youth Mentor for over 8 years, John John loved children and will be especially missed by his Candlewood Lake fishing and wake boarding buddies.  Besides being an avid fisherman, John John enjoyed spending time with his many friends Brogan, Tom, Steve, Billy, Brad, Charlie and his girlfriend Sarah playing golf, listening to country music, and riding his motorcycle.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister: Rebecca M. Pendergast of New Fairfield.  His grandparents: Eleanor Pendergast of Greenwich, CT and David and Nancy Swertfager of New Fairfield.  His Aunt: Patricia Pendergast of Thorndike, ME.  His Uncles: William Swertfager of Katonah, NY and Robert Swertfager of Brewster, NY.  Several cousins also survive.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, July 1 at the New Fairfield Congregational Church, 20 Gillotti Road, New Fairfield, CT with the Rev. Patricia A. Nicholas, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  
Friends will be received on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
