Obituary: Dorothy I Drumm

Dorothy I. Drumm, 88, of Danbury, passed away on Saturday afternoon at Danbury Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Fred G. Drumm, Sr.

Dorothy was born in Patterson, NY, a daughter of the late Ernest M. and Clara Bleh Leach. A lifelong Danbury area resident, she was a 1943 graduate of Danbury High School. Dorothy joined the US Navy in 1945 and served during WWII as a Seaman First Class receiving the Victory Medal. She married her late husband in April of 1948 and devoted her life as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph Church in Danbury, enjoyed Circle B Square Dancing and her weekly sewing circle. Dorothy also enjoyed the outdoors.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert Leach. Dorothy is survived by her daughter: Nancy Drumm of Watertown. Her sons: Fred, Jr. of Danbury, Robert and his wife, Maureen, of Alpharetta, GA and Paul of Danbury. Her grandchildren: Kari Lee Brugman, Kate Lyn Drumm and Molly Kathleen Drumm. Her great-grandchildren: TJ, Nora and Owen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10am at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Interment with military honors will be in Wooster Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 5pm – 8pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
