Obituary: Dianne Zielinski

Dianne C. Zielinski, 49, of Danbury, died Thursday, Nov. 10, at Danbury Hospital.

Dianne C. (Williams) Zielinski, 49, of Danbury, who served as assistant town clerk, an assistant registrar of vital statistics and constable for the City of Danbury, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 10, at Danbury Hospital, shortly after her admission. She had been stricken ill at home.

Zielinski was the wife of Joseph S. Zielinski and the mother of Steven J. Zielinski and Thomas J. Zielinski, all of Danbury.

Zielinski was born in Hartford on March 13, 1962, a daughter of Ned Williams of East Windsor and Carol (Allen) Watkins of Lewiston, Maine.

She was raised in Windsor Locks, attended local schools, graduated from Windsor Locks High School and attended Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.

In early years, she was employed at the former Deep’s Market of Danbury and at the time of her passing, was employed by the City of Danbury as assistant town clerk and assistant registrar of vital statistics. She was completing her term of office as a constable.

Zielinski was active in the schools her sons were attending. She participated in the parent-teacher organizations and booster clubs, as well as volunteering in various capacities in the sports programs and with the teams of her sons.

Very few times did Zielinski not attend a practice or game and would split her time to see both of her sons playing on different fields at the same time.

She enjoyed bowling duck pins and playing woman’s softball.

Zielinski was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Danbury.

In addition to her husband, Joseph of 25 years, and sons Steven and Thomas; her father Ned Williams and his wife, Marion; her mother, Carol Watkins and her husband, David; Zielinski is survived by her maternal grandmother, Lillian Allen of Clinton; two brothers, David Williams of Massachusetts and Raymond Williams of Maine; her mother in law, Elizabeth "Betty" Zielinski of Danbury and by several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Zielinski was predeceased by her brother, Mark Williams.

She will be sorely missed.

The Rite of Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Clapboard Ridge Rd., Route 39N, Danbury. Father Peter Karloutsos will officiate.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery in Danbury.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011 at the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury.
