Arthur James Mattor Sr., of Danbury, loving husband of 55 years to Ellen (Patterson) Mattor, died Monday, March 5, 2012, at Danbury Hospital. He was born June 1, 1927, in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Archie and Mary (Dougherty) Mattor.
He proudly served in World War II in the Navy. He is the proud plank holder of the U.S.S. Princeton CV 37. He was also a longtime summer resident of Sand Pond in Norway, ME.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, Ellen, he is survived by his two sons, Arthur Mattor Jr. and his wife Irene of Breezy Point, Queens, Peter Mattor and his wife Dorothy of Brookfield; his two daughters, Mary Ellen Mattor of Bethel and Ann Kendziorski and her husband Bram of Oxford; four grandchildren, Steven Mattor, Matthew, Mark and Kara Kendziorski; his great grandchild, Marilyn Mattor and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, John and his brother, Alfred.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at , 8 Robinson Rd., Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm on Friday, March 9, 2012, at , 247 White St., Danbury.
