Mr. Antonio L. Alicea, age 59, of Danbury, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 at Danbury Hospital. Mr. Alicea was the former husband and dearest friend of Damina (Singho) Alicea.
Mr. Alicea was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, on November 28, 1951, a son of the late Alberto and Erasma (Hernandez) Alicia. Mr. Alicea graduated from Lehman College, N.Y., with an AS degree in accounting. Mr. Alicea was employed for over 28 years at Verizon Telephone of New York; he was a manager for most of those years. He was known for his great sense of humor and he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing dominos and was a fan of Jeopardy. Most of all he was a devoted family man who was respected by all.
In addition to Damina, he is survived by four children: Jessica Alicea of the Bronx, NY; Anthony Alicea of Lancaster, PA; Jose Alicea of the Bronx, NY, and Bianca Alicea of Danbury; one step-son: Genaro Nunez of Danbury; three brothers: Ismael, Hector and Lewis Alicea; three sisters: Ada, Carmen and Maria Alicea; and one granddaughter, Ashley.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at 12:30 p.m. with Elder Jim Denike of Kingdom Hall officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from noon to 2 p.m.
Funeral services will continue in the Bronx, NY.
