Marie Petranich, 85

October 02, 1927 - January 19, 2013

Marie Theresa Petranich, of Danbury passed away, Saturday, January 19, at Maplewood of Danbury, surrounded by loving family. Marie was born on October 2, 1927 in Brooklyn, N.Y., and resided there for 80 years.

Marie graduated from Mother Cabrini High School in Manhattan. She worked most of her life as a legal secretary in Brooklyn. In her dedication to the Pro-Life movement, she collected baby clothes and furniture, which she would then deliver to The Bridge to Life organization of Astoria, Queens. She played tennis into her seventies, and was a talented seamstress.

Marie is predeceased by her father, Enea Petranich, her mother, Alice and her brother Joseph. She is survived by her sisters, Anna Petranich of San Rafael, Ca., Rita Crimi of Danbury, her nephews and niece, Thomas Crimi (Charlene), Fred Crimi (Alix), Peter Crimi (Maria), William Crimi, Mary Crimi (Kip), and Joseph Crimi (Jill), and her sixteen grand nieces and nephews.

We are grateful for the care Marie received at Maplewood of Danbury, Regional Hospice, and at the hands of Adjoa Osafo, Marie’s private caretaker.

Funeral Information

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, 85 Great Plains Road, Danbury, at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 26.
