John C. Bertrum, 75, Former Norwalk Police Officer

John C. Bertrum, 75, of Waxhaw, N.C. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. He was born April 9, 1938 in Norwalk, CT son of the late John C. F. Bertrum and Genevieve Hotchkiss Bertrum. A retired Construction and Residential Home Builder Contractor in Danbury CT and Brewster, NY before making his home in Waxhaw, N.C. for 16 years. Mr. Bertrum served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps 1955-1959 and as a patrolman/police dog Trainer in the Norwalk, CT Police Dept. 1959-1965.
John was an avid reader in leisure and enthusiastically enjoyed riding his Harley dressed Motoguzzi motorcycle with his loving devoted wife of 14 years, Susan I. “Sue Salvatore” Bertrum,  who survivers him. John is also survived by his honorable Mother-in-law, Frances Salvatore, 3 children; H. Rose Romero, Danbury, CT, Genevieve Bertrum, Benson, VT,  John F. (Jolene) Bertrum New Fairfield, CT, 1 sister Sharon R. Fuhrman and one brother Gary E. (Pam) Bertrum, both of Norwalk, CT several grand, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends may view at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, CT on Friday May 31 from 10:00 to 11:30a.m., immediately followed by a service there in celebration of John’s life with Pastor John Revell of Stamford Baptist Church officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford, CT. Per family request, please omit flowers. Magnerfuneralhome.com
