Harold G. Romer, 88

June 16, 1924 - December 07, 2012

Harold G. Romer of Danbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Danbury Hospital at the age of 88. He was the husband of Jane Romer (Manning) to whom he was married to for 34 years. Harold was born on June 16, 1924, in Bronx, NY, son of the late Harold and Clara (Watson) Romer.

Harold was a valued employee for The American Thread, and a security guard at Danbury Hospital, he was a member of the American Legion, in which, along with Walter Grapkoski, he displayed American flags along Main Street on patriotic holidays. The program has continued until present day. He was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in NYC. While living in New Fairfield, CT, he was an active member of the community and held many positions. He was a former member of the New Fairfield Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance, also a member of the Democratic Town Committee. Harold was a Past President of the Ball Pond Volunteer Fire Company.

In addition to his wife Jane, Harold is survived by four children; Larry Romer (Carol), Ken Romer (Audrey), William Collins, and Maureen Durand, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 29 years, Marie (Colucci) Romer.

Family and friends may call Tuesday December 11, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday December 12, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ in Danbury. Burial will immediately follow at Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield.
