Former Rogers Park Middle Custodian Peter Gabriel, 89

Panagoits “Peter” Gabriel, 89, of Danbury, husband of Aspasia Efstraties Gabriel, died on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Danbury Hospital. Mr. Gabriel was born in Greece March 9, 1925, a son of Aristides and Angela (Gabriel) Gabriel. 



He attended school in Greece and at the age of 21 immigrated to the United States, settling in Danbury. He was employed in past years with the former Castro Convertible Corporation of Danbury and was a retired custodian with the Danbury Board of Education at Rogers Park Middle School. He enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Danbury.



In addition to his wife, Aspasia, of 54 years, he is survived by a son, Steve Gabriel of Danbury; a brother, Demetrios Gabriel and his wife, Kathy, and their daughter, Angela, all of Danbury. 



The Rite of Burial will take place on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury with the Rev. Peter Karloutsos officiating. Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury on Wednesday, June 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Trisagion Prayer Service will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
