What's next for the State Employees?

Local Attorney Jim Diamond ponders the fate of State Employees.

I think we're all on pins and needles waiting to see what happens today with the last of the union voting on the State Employee wage and benefits package. CT News Junkie, which has become ground zero for news about the voting,  says the package is on "life support" at this point, with AFSCME’s big 4,200 member P-2 Human and Social Services bargaining unit voting down the agreement yesterday. The Correction Officers begin voting today, but apparently the group of 1,850 would have to vote in favor by an overwhelming margin in order to keep alive the possibility of ratification.  Are the promised layoffs imminent? What do you think?
