Links to Success

On Friday, November 1, students from the Danbury Public Schools Readiness Program were presented with a challenge; to read every day.  The Fairfield County Chapter of the Links generously offered their Healthy Minds Reading Program to staff and students.  Kimberly Daniels, along with other members of the Fairfield County Links, were greeted by 56 smiling preschoolers.  “Do you like to read?”, Daniels asked.  The preschoolers simultaneously responded with a cheer and were challenged to read or have an adult read to them every day.

The program offers a series of books and related activity kits for teachers to utilize and modify to complement their literacy curriculum.  Books and certificates await participating preschool students when the challenge concludes in April.  In addition to the reading challenge, The Danbury Public Schools Readiness Program welcomed visitors to the program’s new location on Cottage St.

On behalf of the staff and students, we would like to thank the Fairfield County Chapter of the Links Inc for the opportunity to participate and welcome new friends.
