Danbury Short Film Wraps As Crowd Funding Campaign Nears End

DANBURY, CT – The cast and crew of the short film, Only Moments have officially wrapped production, shooting the last segments surrounded by the beautiful vistas at McLaughlin Vineyards in Sandy Hook.

Writer and director Angel Rosa is founder and principle owner of Hat City Pictures, a new film production entity based in Danbury.

"My goal on this project was to keep it 100% Danbury-centric. When the opportunity to shoot at McLaughlin Vineyards came to us, I jumped at it. The vineyards represent to me a wonderful example of the gorgeous boundaries surrounding Greater Danbury. We honestly couldn't have shot at a better location, especially for the particular scenes we needed to capture. I can't thank them enough."

According to Rosa the short film included nearly a dozen locations, from a martial arts studio to a veteran's hall, the latter having to stand in for both an executive board room and hospital room.

"We ran this operation like we were shooting a feature film, so it was an excellent training experience for all of us. Everyone from hair and makeup to our behind the scenes coverage, which included both a still photographer and a separate videographer, worked at a Grade-A industry level. Chris Bryant, our behind-the-scenes video chronicler, and Maria Maio, our Department Head of Hair & Makeup (both Connecticut natives) each came in from New York City to work on this project. The results are pretty darn impressive. That is, if I have to refrain from saying "downright amazing!'"

The urgency with which Rosa shares his thanks to all those involved, directly or indirectly, with the production of the film underscores his sincerity.

"From Tom Devine and the entire staff at Two Steps Downtown Grille, the American Legion, Sensei Benny Little at CT Academy of Kickboxing, to Dee Dee Morlock at McLaughlin Vineyards, I couldn't possibly express my gratitude enough. We are a troop of dreamers who endeavor to translate those dreams into a visual medium, and all those people I just mentioned helped us make this particular dream a reality. I am thankful beyond words for their act of faith in me, and in this team!"

The crowd funding campaign for the short is in its final stretch, ending in just a matter of hours. Rosa has asked his team and the public to make one final push for contributions.

"The film is done, we've got a few services to finish paying for and honestly we're covered in that area right now. The concern financially as we go forward is the costs associated with various other expenses involved with post-production and distribution. We'll be faced with film festival submission fees, not to mention that the cost of marketing and materials (posters, DVDs, etc.) are going to hit us in the wallet pretty hard. I'm hoping to have at least some of that cost covered so it's less of a strain on the personal piggy bank."

In the "Gallery" section of the Only Moments Indiegogo campaign, the team has made available the first segment from the behind-the-scenes featurette, which itself illustrates the level of proficiency and professionalism on the film.

"I strongly urge that everyone watch the behind-the-scenes snippet, and see for yourselves the level of quality we all put into this project. Chris Bryant's featurette is indistinguishable from the kind of stuff we're accustomed to seeing in Hollywood-budget behind-the-scenes special features. Our featurette itself is a wonderfully fun cinematic experience. "

The public can view a snippet from the behind-the-scenes featurette, read more about the film's premise, and make a financial contribution by visiting the Indiegogo campaign page at www.onlymomentsfilm.com
