This long-standing event has become a tradition on Candlewood Lake as area residents kick off the summer and come together as a community to clean the shoreline of debris that has collected over the past year.

The Candlewood Lake Authority is the single agency that has devoted the last 41 years solely to the protection and preservation of the Lake, and the safety of its users.  Unfortunately, this spring the CLA has been hit with news of impending budget cuts due to a reduction in FirstLight's contribution, and the possibility of funding cuts by the towns, which has forced us to devote much of our time to addressing that situation in the hopes of minimizing the potential impact that may have.

While it pains us to have to cancel the Clean Up this year, this event requires a significant amount of planning time and resources from us.  We hope that things will change for the better and that we can bring the Candlewood Lake Clean Up back again for 2014.  We know the great benefits this event brings to the Candlewood Lake community.

To the hundreds of volunteers that have helped us on Clean Up day each year, thank you.  We are amazed how every year you fill a huge dumpster with trash collected from the shoreline.  We truly appreciate your time and efforts.

We hope to see you all in 2014!

Best regards,

Candlewood Lake Authority
