The Latino Scholarship Fund to Host its 16th Annual Gala

The 16th annual Gala and silent auction in support of the Latino Scholarship Fund will be held Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury.

The Latino Scholarship Fund has provided more than $550,000 to over 350 students from the region to attend college.

At a ceremony last spring, more than 40 graduating high school seniors were honored as they prepared to study a range of programs, with English, math, nursing and other pre-med courses dominating.

“Our annual gala is our most important fundraiser,” said Ileana Velazquez, the fund’s president. “We depend on community support to help us assist children who otherwise might not have a shot at college. Many of them are the first in their families to go on to higher education, and the people who support the gala help these students achieve their dreams.”

Tickets are $100 a person. The gala will be at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury and will begin at 7 p.m. For information, contact Velazquez at laf@danburylatinofund.com
