“Dance Through the Woods”

DANBURY, Conn., March 5, 2012 – The Board of Directors of The Land Trust of Danbury invites you to “Dance Through the Woods,” a gala fund-raising event honoring Mayor Mark Boughton for his commitment to preserving open space. The event will take place on Saturday, March 31st from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at The Matrix and will further goals of protecting, preserving, and sharing the open spaces that ensure our quality of life.

Since its origin in 1971, The Land Trust of Danbury has successfully acquired 217 acres and currently plays an active role in the Ives Trail and Greenway task force by granting easements and ensuring that this important area is open to the community. In addition to protecting Danbury’s natural areas, The Land Trust also leads various educational programs.

For $125 per person (or $110 for members) attendees of “Dance Through the Woods” will enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent and live auction, our program, an exclusive dinner menu, and dancing. Dress is both formal and fun; ladies should wear diamonds and denim while gents should don a black tie and flannel. Tickets can be purchased at 860-355-0249 or online at
http://www.landtrustdanbury.org/blog/. Currently, The Land Trust is in the process of acquiring 11 acres at Long Ridge Road and several other parcels; contributions will go to the Land Trust’s acquisition fund.

The Land Trust of Danbury is a private, nonprofit organization that was incorporated in 1971. It is the only local land conservation organization in Danbury. The Land Trust was formed by residents concerned with protecting woodlands, fields, ponds, vernal pools, and other wetlands and natural areas for the nature and education they facilitate, the perpetual enjoyment their scenic views and hiking trails offer, and the critical habitats they provide for area wildlife. The Land Trust offers advice and counsel to individuals, families, and business landowners on methods of land preservation and the possible tax benefits that may be realized.
