Presentation “In Search of Historic Western Armenia” by Dr. Richard Hovannisian

Now is the time to learn the fascinating story of the hidden
and assimilated Armenians in Historic Western Armenia.  Sunday, November 3, 2013, at 12:00 p.m., Dr.
Richard Hovannisian will give an interesting and enlightening presentation “In
Search of Historic Western Armenia” at Armenian Church of the Holy
Ascension, 1460 Huntington Tpke. Trumbull.

Western Armenia was the largely Armenian-inhabited area of
the Ottoman Empire, where much of the Armenian population was eliminated during
the Armenian Genocide.  For the last 98
years, conversations about the Armenian Diaspora concentrated on the 1915 Genocide
and paid little attention to the Armenian people and culture that remains in
Western Armenia.

Dr. Hovannisian's presentation will also feature segments
showing interactions with the last remaining Armenians in Dikranagerd
(Diyarbakir) and the Armenian-speaking Hamshen people in the mountains near the
Black Sea in eastern Turkey.  Come join
us with professor, scholar, and expert in Armenian History, Dr. Richard Hovannisian,
Chairperson at UCLA for Armenian Studies.
