Free Marionette Puppet Show, "Circus on a String"

Back by popular demand the Robert Rogers Puppet Company is back to perform "Circus on a string" on July 14 at 2:00 P.M. in the Danbury Music Centre located at 256 Main Street. Admission is FREE. Parking is available in the safe, well lit, patrolled municipal garage adjacent to the Music Centre.
For more information call the Commission office at 203 797-4508, but plan to be on hand on Sunday at 2 o'clock for an enjoyable outing for the family.

About the performance:

All action and music, this tour de force marionette (string puppet) production is truly a delight for the eyes - and fun for the soul, too.  Not just an array of puppet clowns and acrobats, but a carefully choreographed series of vignettes set to the light-hearted musical suite, especially written for young people, The Comedians by classical composer Dmitri Kabalevsky.

The puppets are worked in full view of the audience, which gives the performance an extra added dimension.  The cast of puppet performers includes: a stilt walker, strong man, trapeze artist, juggler, elephant, clowns, poodles and more.

About the Puppet Company:

After three decades and thousands of performances, the staging of each new production; the making of each new puppet, is still an exciting challenge.  Every place of performance - whether it's an elementary school in Danbury, Connecticut, or the Kinski Palace in Prague - is regarded with equal importance, and every audience member, a potential new friend.

Puppetry is both a visual and a performing art, by which puppeteers can express themselves in the workshop as well as on the stage.  The Robert Rogers Puppet Company does both and has long been known and respected for its beautiful craftsmanship and style of its puppets, the stories they dramatize and the extraordinary way they are "brought to life."
