Are you ready to do the Time Warp again? If so, be at The Palace Danbury on Saturday, October 27 when The Rocky Horror Picture Show returns to the theatre.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a musical parody of B-movies, science fiction and horror films. Released in 1975, Rocky holds the record for the longest-running release in film history – a whopping 37 years and counting.
Interestingly, the film bombed during its first run in 1975. However, when it was re-released as a midnight movie, the film really took off! In fact, it was a midnight mainstay at The Palace Danbury theatre during the 1980’s.
One of the reasons for its long life is audience participation – and that’s exactly what’s expected at the October 27 screening. Audience members are encouraged to dress as their favorite character, throw props at various times during the film, and be ready to yell back lines of dialogue as part of the audience partici- (SAY IT!)-pation.
Moviegoers are asked to respect the venue and follow some simple rules-- no rice, hot dogs or open flame will be permitted, and all fans 18 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. To make participation easier, prop packs, which include all the permitted props, can be pre-ordered when purchasing tickets online.
Tickets for The Rocky Horror Picture Show are general admission and cost $15; admission with a prop pack costs $20. Tickets can be ordered online atwww.thepalacedanbury.com or purchased at the door the night of the show. Better make your plans soon, Rocky will have only one showing and limited tickets are available.
