DigiGirlz Teen Tech Workshop!

DigiGirlz allows girls to experience a whole new world by using a touch screen on a Surface Pro and learn to use two new tools that program great games. Girls will enter into a virtual universe where players create and creators play. With Project Spark, you create entire new worlds, program heroes and villains, edit a character’s brain, and design an entire game.

Girls represented fewer than 18 percent of all Advanced Placement (AP) computer science test takers in secondary schools – the lowest representation of any AP discipline. And between 1983 and 2009, the share of computer science bachelor's degrees awarded to women dropped from 36 percent to 18 percent. Women accounted for only 9% of "IT Management" positions among 2008-09 Dice Tech Salary Survey respondents. Let's turn this around!
