Voters will be able to

submit questions for the candidates prior to the debate on notecards provided

by the League.

Irene Burgess, Scott Mason,

John Palermo, Jr., Amy Shinohara, and Michael Taylor are competing for the Board

of Education
seats.  The impact of a possible school closing and

school security may be some of the key issues for voters this year. Issues.

The changing school population potentially impacts redistricting and building

obsolescence, and specific investments earmarked for school security have

raised several questions for voters.

Board of Finance contenders Jeff Bonistalli, Sr. and  Jill

Bornstein, will address the Town’s finance and debt issues.

Planning and Zoning

Commission
hopefuls include Michael

Autuori, Stephen Cole, James Coyle, Tim Dunphy, Joe Fossi, George Hanlon, and

Rebecca Mucchetti. Issues The decision to develop a ‘Gateway’ zone

generated much discussion among town residents. Will the candidates call for a

moratorium on this development? What initiatives, if any, will they recommend

to ensure that Main Street, the heart of Ridgefield, remains viable?

Knowledge is power.

So come to the Candidates’ Forum. It is an excellent opportunity for voters to

educate themselves prior to the November 5th election. This event is

free and open to the public.

The League of Women Voters

is a non-partisan political organization that encourages active participation

in government and voting.
