Bethel Gardening Fair



13th Annual Bethel Gardening Fair

Bethel,
CT - The University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension Master Gardener
Program of Fairfield County and the Connecticut Master Gardener Association
will sponsor their 13th Annual Gardening Fair on Sunday, July
13, 2014 from 12:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.   The theme this year is Gardening in Harmony with Nature.

This
free event requires no pre-registration and offers the public an opportunity to
learn about sustainable gardening activities and practices. There will be presentations on designing with native plants,
vegetable gardening, butterflies and pollinators and a pruning how-to.  Information booths
cover a variety of topics including beekeeping, wildflowers, annual/container
gardening, composting, soil, vegetables, turf care, ferns, low-toxic gardening
approaches as well as invasive plants and insects.  There are also walks on the grounds that will
showcase trees, perennials, wildflowers/native plants and the vegetable
garden. 



 



 “Visitors are encouraged to bring a soil
sample as we are offering free soil pH testing”, says
Julia Cencebaugh Kloth, Fairfield
County Master Gardener Coordinator. 
Consult the website or contact the MG office at 203-207-3262 on how to
properly prepare your soil sample for testing during the fair.



 



Free refreshments, demonstrations, a free
plant raffle, the sale of gently used gardening books and other garden
related activities are planned for those who attend this eagerly awaited annual
gardening event.



The Fair
will be held on the grounds of the Fairfield County Extension Center at 67
Stony Hill Road, Bethel, CT 06801.  Call
