Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton names Groton Town Councilor Heather Somers as his running mate for governor, according to The Day of New London.
The Day reported that Somers, a former Groton mayor, will bring both a geographic and gender balance to the ticket. Boughton said she is also the ,best person for the job.
Boughton and Somers, also a Republican, first met last year, the Day reported. Somers said they connected as mayors on many of the issues municipalities face.
