3 Coyotes ran through my yard last weekend at around midnight. They were certainly chasing something, maybe a deer? Didn't see it, but they didn't even notice me, and I was about 30 feet away. They looked very healthy, so be cautious of your small animals in the Stepney area.

Karen, you forgot... Newtowner: This site was actually useful with Hoa running things. Now all I see is crappy animated ads and fluff. What gives?

No comments about Mount stepping down? Aw, this is no fun.

Is Patch running out of start up money?
Christine E. March 11, 2012 at 02:51 PM

Observer March 11, 2012 at 03:10 PM
That's the Patch way!

He's going up to hartford where he'll be an ultra lib advocate

If you all dislike The Patch so much, dont click on it. It is a free country and no one is making you read it let alone comment on it.

I actually don't dislike the Patch, I just think it's weird that Michelle Mount - one of the most controversial Council Members on Patch - steps down from her position, and there isn't even a Patch article about it. It's a hyperlink to the Monroe Courier's article. It seems strange to me. That's important Monroe News. What gives?
Sam Mihailoff March 12, 2012 at 03:52 PM
that may very well be...however, it appears that the "new" editor's credentials are at a dining table ONLY http://newtown.patch.com/users/karen-ali

Sure it takes time to get to know the lay of the land, but according to LinkedIn, she's the REGIONAL editor. I'd imagine that means she's all the editors' boss? Shouldn't she be the most qualified person to get the town up and running quickly? I can't imagine that Hoa would've left her in a terrible state of disarray. It seems that her primary responsibility is trying a new restaurant (presumably on the company card), taking a picture of the meal, and writing three or four sentences about it - poorly constructed ones at that. Patch is often what the readers make it? Are you just trying to farm free content from your audience? I'll give you guys plenty of local sports coverage or photo coverage of events, how much are you going to pay me for it?
Observer March 13, 2012 at 12:06 AM
And for what it's worth, you're doing a FAR better job keeping the Bethel site afloat than the trainwreck that's occurring in Newtown. Maybe since Hoa was so incredible it's more noticeable in Newtown, but in any event.........

Why did Christine delete her comment? Did she come under fire from Patch execs for being honest?
Christine E. March 13, 2012 at 08:31 PM
If you're talking about me, both of my comments are still here. I'm not sure who wrote the now-deleted comment.
Christine E. March 13, 2012 at 08:31 PM
Oh! Wait, nevermind, now I know who. Yeah, sounds about right.

Wow. Newtown Patch appears to be taking a beating. Sam and Christine seem to be bringing the heat. Is Patch in trouble? Is the plan not working? Inquiring minds want to know...

Brookfield's Patch is showing the same affliction.

"trust me I mean it"? A desperation buzzer shot!
--- March 15, 2012 at 01:13 AM
...and here I was thinking Patch was a network of local folks trying to get out local news with the familiarity of the hometown appeal. Color me shocked. And woefully naive, apparently. No wonder Patch deletes comments. It's all about the advertising bucks, and we can't be offending anyone, perish the thought! I am sorely disappointed....
