I Who Have Nothing

“ I can only watch you with
My nose pressed up against the window pane
I, I who have nothing
I, I who have no one”  lyrics from ‘I Who Have Nothing’

My name  is Sphinx.  I am a small adult male Chihuahua Dachshund mix.  I am a little boy who has nothing.  I was rescued by kind rescue workers and Tails of Courage agreed to take me in.  I am very social, and I am a cry baby.  I do not like to be left along.  I crave human companionship, attention and love just like a typical Dachshund.  I love being around people.  I will walk nicely on a leash.  But I cry when I am left alone.  I so much want to find my forever family for the holidays.  Everyone loves me, but no one has adopted me yet.

Tails of Courage (TOC) rescues adult dogs and puppies.  Some owners don’t have the money to spay their pet.  Their animal becomes pregnant and the owner does not want the litter.  Sometimes the mother and her litter are discarded along the side of a highway.  TOC has wonderful rescue workers who find mothers and their pups, barely surviving in ditches, covered in mud, shivering, and caring for their babies as best they are able.  Sometimes the mother has been injured, but still she struggles to save her babies.  TOC pays for the medical care for the mother and her pups, spays the mother when she is medically able to be spayed, and may either return the mother to the owner, or TOC may take both the mother and her pups.  Many times the mother is only a puppy herself.

Other dogs have been left abandoned and tied up outside when “animal shelters” close down,  others have been “put out” on the side of the road, and some are owner turn-ins when owners die or can no longer afford to feed and care for their pets.

Tails of Courage has over 30 adult dogs and puppies all looking for a forever home, including me.  Some of the dogs are older dogs just looking for a safe haven to call home, where they can live out the remainder of their days in peace and security.  Others are small puppies wanting to run and play and give kisses all the time.  Others are dogs who have never known the touch of a human, and some have never even had a name their entire lives.

These wonderful creatures have nothing and no one.

Please consider adopting a rescue dog or puppy.  The holidays are a time of giving.  By rescuing one of these living creatures, you will be giving so much to the life of a little fur baby like me who has nothing left to give you but love.

Log on to www.tailsofcourage.org and take a look at all the adoptable dogs and puppies.  Tails of Courage is located at One Pembroke Road, Danbury, CT and is open every day from 9:00 to 5:30 for adoptions.  My friends and I don’t know if it’s a weekend or a holiday.  We must be fed and given fresh water every day.  Please consider completing an application online, and taking me home today.

Don’t forget to check out the Tails of Courage (TOC) coffee available at www.raisemoneyforpets.com .  For each bag of coffee, $3.00 is donated to Tails of Courage.  Your $3.00 helps keep me alive.  Be sure to scroll through the charities until you reach the TOC coffee!

The next Adoption Event is scheduled for tomorrow,  Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Petsmart, 288 West Avenue, Stamford, CT from 1:00 to 3:00.  Please come out and support Tails of Courage, and consider adding a new member to your holiday celebrations.  With your help, maybe even a little fellow like me can go Home for the Holidays.
