Union Savings Bank provides $10,000 sponsorship to After School Arts Program

[Danbury, Conn., April 1, 2014]— Union Savings Bank has continued its support for the After School Arts Program (ASAP) into 2014, recently presenting the organization with a check for $10,000. The sponsorship supports ASAP’s The Dream Lives On event, the annual Pilobolus performance and The Celebration of Young Writers event.

“We are proud to once again support such a unique nonprofit organization that is dedicated to providing artistic opportunities for both children and adults,” said Fran Dattalo, president and CEO of Union Savings Bank. “This organization helps to strengthen our community, and Union Savings Bank is committed to supporting the communities we serve.”

The After School Arts Program reaches more than 6,000 children and adults each year through its special events, educational workshops and programs in the literary, performing, visual and culinary arts fields.

“We are so grateful for Union Savings Bank’s ongoing support,” said JoAnne Torti, executive director of ASAP. “It has enabled our organization to reach our goals and continue offering artistic opportunities to the members of our community.”

In January, ASAP presented The Dream Lives On at the Warner Theatre in Torrington. This short documentary was based on Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech and featured many of ASAP’s participants, ages 4-20, talking about their dreams for a better world. An ASAP alum that now attends Berklee School of Music composed the music for the documentary.
