Maplewood At Danbury Recognized For Best Practices By the Alzheimer's Association, CT Chapter

Maplewood at Danbury and its own Program Director, Gina Saunders were awarded Best Practices from the Alzheimer’s Association, CT Chapter for “Maplewood Giving Tree,” a resident driven program that demonstrates outstanding work and creative programming in the field of Alzheimer’s disease and memory care.

“Maplewood Giving Tree” was developed to provide local community volunteer service to other neighboring towns. Some of the community service activities include: making dog treat for the ASPCA, creating jewelry for Family and Children Aid, preparing sandwiches for a homeless shelter and putting together care packages for armed force service members. Maplewood at Danbury residents who volunteer are given the opportunity to gain the self-worth as well as pleasure from helping others. Having the opportunity to do this work inspired residents to reminisce about their experiences.
