Where is the Best Place to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day?

Spring is here, and St. Patrick's Day is Saturday. Where to go?

Danbury does a great job with St. Patrick's Day.

First, people celebrate the day with an Irish Mass at .

Then, the city gathers on Main Street for the St. Patrick's Day Parade, and that's where celebrations start to get complicated.

Do you go to the new lodging on West Street for a corned beef sandwich?

Do you head farther down the road to for Shepard's Pie?

Do you elbow through the crowd and claim a spot for the duration at

The usual (though secret) location on Coal Pit Hill Road for the best lunch in town on St. Patrick's Day is closed this year because St. Patrick's Day falls on a Saturday. That's probably the city's best corned beef sandwich, but the location remains underground and unreported due to unfortunate and long-regretted promises made to Danbury's Kevin Barry, who prefers to fly under the radar and serve a few good friends rather than the entire city.

It's your choice for where Danbury's best celebration spot is for St. Patrick's Day, and it's your turn to choose. You can also click here and rate one of these places in our Places section. Review a restaurant or club any time here.

My band Chicks 'n Sync will be playing lots of great Irish music at the Ancient Hibernians' center on St. Patrick's night, beginning at 6:30 PM - stop by for a corned beef sandwich or dinner and join us for a really fun night!

The Hibernian's put out a superior corned beef sandwich, and this is the day for one. (Otherwise the world seems out of Sync.)

My experience is that the Hibernian establishment is unfriendly and the food poor. O'Brien's is by far the best place to be. John happily greets everyone and the food is ALWAYS wonderful. I think the Tipperary Knights are playing. Count me in!

That place is kind of depressing. If anyone is seriously wanting to celebrate St Patrick's Day, they should take the train into the city.
