Danbury's Mackenzie Newsome Died Tuesday Night Surrounded by Her Family

A Danbury child who fought cancer for the last two years died Tuesday night with her mother and father by her side.

Mackenzie Newsome died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, and her mother Melissa Newsome sent this message to her friends.

"Tonight, at 10:30pm, a little girl gained her wings and heaven gained an absolute angel.
My beautiful Mackenzie passed away tonight while her Beast (Mike) held her hand and I laid by her side.
I miss her so much and wish, beg, for 1 more hug, 1 more I love you more and 1 more smile.
God Bless you Mac, I know He blessed me the day I became your mom."

Mackenzie survived the pokings and proddings of physicians in Danbury, New Haven and Boston, who struggled at first to diagnose her illness and then to cure it. She had a tumor removed from her chest and 31 sessions of radiation therapy in Boston.
