Danbury scheduled Project Homeless Connect for Dec. 14 at the Bill Williams Gymnasium on Osborne Street, the same location as last year, which drew 60 organizations and about 200 homeless people.
The project brings together services and the homeless who need those services, said Sue Zaborowski, of the city's social services department.
"Given the state of the economy, and the high rate of unemployment, a rising number of people are in need of simple basic needs and services and this year we anticipate participation by a minimum of 200 people, Zaborowski said in her prepared release.
She said in 2011, more than 800 people were homeless or were at risk of homelessness in the Greater Danbury area.
The Lions Club attends and provides eye screening for the homeless, and the Danbury Housing Authority provides housing applications when waiting lists for housing are open. Numerous other services are provided.
