There is a scheduled public hearing of the Task Force on the Provision of Beverages and Food in Funeral Homes on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 12:00 Noon in Room 1D of the LOB.
“The task force has been charged with reviewing current law and determining if reasonable changes can be made to allow food and beverages to be brought into funeral homes during services,” Rep. Giegler said. “This is an important issue and has elicited strong opinions from both sides from the funeral industry I feel it’s also important to hear from the public, either in person or in written testimony.”
H.B. 6389 – An Act Concerning A task Force on the Provisions of Food and beverages in Funeral Homes created a 10-member task force to study the provision of beverages and prepackaged food at arrangement services in funeral homes. The task force is charged with reviewing other states' policies and procedures for serving nonalcoholic beverages and food in funeral homes and making recommendations on the provision of beverages and catered food at Connecticut funeral homes. Current Connecticut DPH regulations prohibit serving food or beverages at funeral homes.
