Connecticut Based Publishing House Celebrates Its 7th year!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | February 20, 2014 – The Danbury based publishing company, For Beginners LLC, is celebrating its 7th year.

For Beginners is the graphic nonfiction series that deconstructs complex ideas. Every book in the series serves one purpose: to present the works of great thinkers and subjects alike in a straightforward, accessible manner. The series gives the ever-curious a starting point. With subjects ranging from African American history to philosophy to politics, the heavily illustrated series has been a cult favorite for over 30 years.

The series currently has over 50 titles, with their best sellers being Philosophy For Beginners and Foucault For Beginners.

Glenn Thompson founded the series in the early 70s. Thompson was born in Harlem, NY, and didn’t learn how to read until the age of twelve. As Thompson’s voracious reading overtook him, he yearned to see the world beyond NYC. He eventually did travel across the globe and ended up in the UK. While residing in England, he opened a bookstore and founded the For Beginners series.

Upon Thompson’s passing, the company was sold and rebranded as the name of the series: For Beginners, which now has over 50 titles published throughout the world. The company is going strong today, continuing to produce graphic non-fiction books on subjects that are often forgotten, overlooked, or under-represented.

Dawn Reshen-Doty is publisher and long-time Danbury resident.

For Beginners 2014 releases include:

Fanon For Beginners
The History of Classical Music For Beginners
French Revolutions For Beginners
