Norwalk, CT, October 30, 2013 – Chase has awarded a $25,000 grant to Builders Beyond Borders (B3) through the Chase Community Giving program at the Points of Light Conference on Volunteerism and Service in 2013, held at in Washington D.C. Chase Community Giving is Chase’s innovative crowd-sourced philanthropy program that gives people the power to decide which charities are worthy of receiving grants from the bank. Since its inception in 2009, Chase Community Giving has awarded over $30 million in grants to thousands of charities across the U.S.

“Thanks to the conference participants that voted for B3, we can use this Chase Community Giving grant to expand as a youth-leadership organization and broaden the scope of our community service operations,” notes B3 Executive Director, Amy Schroeder-Riggio. “Our members raise a significant portion of program costs and we fundraise for the remainder. We are very grateful to Chase for their continued support of the B3 program.”

This year, Builders Beyond Borders represents more than 25 local high schools across Fairfield County and beyond. Enrolled students engage in fundraising and local community service projects throughout the school year, culminating in travel to a Latin American or Caribbean country each spring to build needed facilities for deserving communities. In the spring of 2014, B3 students will travel to 5 communities throughout the Dominican Republic (DR) to build sanitation and water systems, a medical center, and temporary housing. This past spring, B3 students traveled to Guyana, where they built community centers and bridges throughout five communities.
