Photo Gallery: Rugby Pitch and the Puppet Show

From the season's first rugby game at WestConn to a puppet show at the library, this past weekend was jumping in Danbury! Visit the photo gallery and see who was there.

No matter your age, there was tons to do in Danbury this weekend. Whether you chose to be entertained inside making puppets with the tykes or outside watching a rugby game at Western Connecticut State University, it was easy to be busy!

The mini set enjoyed a puppet show from University of Connecticut Puppetry grads, John and Megan Regan.  The story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin was adapted from the original fairytale, though here with a much happier ending.  There was a lot of laughter from parents as well as the kids, and many were inspired to go off afterwards and host a puppet show of their own.

Meanwhile, there were plenty of people in Danbury who decided to take their entertainment outdoors, despite the still brisk weather.  At Roger's Park Middle School, a little girl learned to ride a bike and a bigger girl learned to drive a car.

Some young men engaged in a pick up game of football while over at Western Connecticut State University, the season's first game of rugby was kicked off.  If you have never seen a game of rugby, check out the photos.  There were moves this writer had never seen before, huddles called scrums, and all kinds of other over-reaching efforts to get the ball from one end of the field to the other.  To find out about coming rugby games at WSCU, click here.

All in all, it was a lovely weekend but we are still waiting for the warmth of a good spring sun to dispense once and for all with the bitter chill that still lurks in the air.
