Islander's Matt Moulson Named in Danbury Suit. Really? Not Yet

Stamford Attorney Mark Arons calls Islanders' player cheap or clueless, referring to the hockey player's minimal car insurance, as quoted by the New York Post. The article is based on a lawsuit supposedly filed in Danbury. It isn't.

The New York Post published an article on Friday claiming a New York Islander player had the "bare minimum insurance on pricey car in crash: suit," but no such suit has yet been filed.

The story said Islanders Player Matt Moulson was in a car crash in 2010 with Lisa Caiati, who sued Moulson in Danbury Superior Court. The suit is seeking substantially more than the $25,000 of liability coverage Moulson had on his car, the article said, quoting Westport Attorney Mark Arons, who works as a personal injury and wrongful death lawyer. Arons could not be reached at his office Monday.

A check at Danbury Superior Court Monday showed no suit had been filed for Caiati or against Moulson. Court employees said it could be on the way, but it isn't in the court system electronically or physically. For the complete New York Post artlcle, click here.

"This is 100 percent a celebrety shake-down," said Stamford Attorney Stephan Seeger, who represents Islanders' Player Matt Moulson. Seeger said Arons is "talking about a lawsuit" and "defaming" Seeger's client in an attempt to embarass and humiliate Moulson into quickly paying to avoid the nuisance.

"He dropped the gloves with the wrong guy," Seeger said, and included with his response to the "suit," a photograph of Moulson teaching children how to skate and play hockey. "My client is a good guy. This was a fender bender."
