Former Abbott Tech Coach Arrested for Probation Violation
Jailed in 2004 for having an affair with a student, Frank Warecke was arrested for coaching a youth basketball team in Bethany.
A former girls basketball coach at in jailed in 2004 for having an affair with a student is back in hot water for coaching a youth basketball team in Bethany.
An article in the Danbury News-Times said Frank Warecke, 45, was charged with violating the conditions of his probation banning him from coaching any team with players under 18. He faces a return to prison for the violation.
Warecke had been coaching his stepson’s youth basketball team in Bethany. The newspaper said Warecke was discovered in January when a parent contacted Probation officials to ask if he was allowed to coach the youth team.

According to the article, Warecke served a 10-month sentence after his arrest for having an affair with a 17-year-old player at Abbott Tech, where he was a drafting teacher as well as girl’s basketball coach.
