Eye on Danbury: Hispanic Center Has a Lot to Celebrate

The Trust for Public Land held a garden party to celebrate the success of the Community Garden and the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month

It has been a banner year for the Hispanic Center. A total indoor renovation took the Center from homey to warm and professional, and the installation of the Community Garden gave the Center a brand new exterior as well.

To top it off, Thursday, Sept 15, marked the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month. The month is punctuated by the Independence Days of Mexico, Chile, Guatamala and others, and is intended to celebrate the contributions to this country made by Latino nations and individuals.

All of these events were celebrated on Thursday evening at a garden party, hosted by the Land for Public Trust and the Hispanic Center. Alicia Betty, the Connecticut State Director for the Trust for Public Land said that the garden planted this year behind the Center was hopefully the first of many.
