Danbury Police Log: Shots Fired, Felon With a Dangerous Weapon

The following information was provided by the Danbury Police Department. A person charged with a crime is not guilty until found guilty in court.

Danbury Police reported they took a call at 6:33 a.m. Sunday of shots fired and a woman screaming at 7 Bayberry Lane in Danbury.  Sgt. John Krupinsky arrived shortly after and located Vandrese Whitaker, 24, of 7 Bayberry Lane, who was having a dispute with a woman.  Officer Reed and Rudisill then arrived on the scene to assist Sgt. Krupinsky.  Sgt. Krupinsky patted down Whitaker for weapons and none were located.  In the BMW that Whitaker was operating Sgt. Krupinsky located a .22 caliber North American Arms pistol on the passenger seat in plain view.  Upon checking the gun it was found to be loaded with five rounds of ammo , two of which had been fired.  Whitaker was placed under arrest for Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle.  He was transported to police headquarters. At headquarters, police discovered that Whitaker had two felony convictions for Possession of Narcotics and Sale of a Controlled Substance.  He was then additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon.  Bond was set at $25,000.
