Danbury Police Log: Assault, Conspiracy, Risk of Injury, DUI

The following information was provided by the Danbury Police Department. A person charged with a crime is not guilty until having been convicted in court.

Danbury Police charged three men with assault and conspiracy after a fight involving a machete behind the War Memorial in Rogers Park Monday. Police said the men were fighting over a woman, and they agreed to meet behind the War Memorial. One man brought a machete. Police charged Paul Grima, 21, of Library Place, Danbury, with breach of peace, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, and possession of marijuana. He was held on a $50,000 bond. Patrick Ellis, 20, of Town Hill Avenue, was charged with breach of peace and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault. Ellis was held on a $50,000 bond. Paul Buongiorno, 19, of Town Hill Avenue, was charged with breach of peace, criminal mischief, second-degree threatening, carrying a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault and criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault. Buongiorno was held on a $100,000 bond.

Michael Cawley, 51, of Yonkers, NY, was charged with risk of injury, disorderly conduct and third-degree assault on a warrant stemming from a domestic disturbance on Jan. 21. Police said Cawley was in a fight in a Danbury home, and a child was inside the home at the same time. Cawley was released on a $10,000 bond.

Ann-Marie O'Brien, 28, of New Fairfield, was charged with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, operating a motor vehicle without a license, failure to drive right and following too closely after a two-car accident at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Police said O'Brien struck a car stopped at a stop sign near East Pembroke Road, then drove a short distance until she drove off the road, struck a tree and her car burst into flames. O'Brien was released on a $1,500 bond.
