Danbury Firm President Guilty of Filing False Tax Return

Danbury's Preferred Utilities Manufacturing Corp. President pleads guilty to failing to report nearly $193,492 in income.

David Bohn, 47, a Redding resident and president of Danbury's Preferred Utilities Manufacturing Corp. will serve 30 days in jail for filing a false income tax return.

Court documents showed Bohn was president of the Danbury firm, and the company paid personal expenses for himself and his family. The court documents showed Bohn called the personal expenditures corporate expenses. From roughly 2004 to 2007, this increased Bohn's income by $193,492.33, which cost the government $75,899 in lost taxes. Bohn has paid the IRS more than $180,000 in back taxes, penalties and interest. He also agreed to allow an auditor look over the company's credit card expenditures and his personal income tax filings. Bohn pleaded guilty to one count of filing a false income tax return.

Senior United States District Judge Ellen Bree Burns in New Haven sentenced Bohn on Tuesday to 30 days of imprisonment, followed by one year of supervised release, for filing false tax returns.
