Cops Find Loaded Gun During Traffic Stop in Southeast

The defendant from Danbury was held at the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond bail.

A 27-year-old Danbury, man is facing two felony charges after police found drugs and a loaded revolver in the car he was driving, officials say.

State troopers from the East Fishkill barracks stopped Rolando J. Genao, who was behind the wheel of a 1998 Honda, for speeding at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday on westbound Interstate 84 in Southeast.

Police found cocaine and marijuana, along with a loaded revolver, in the vehicle, according to officials. They charged Genao with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and two felonies: fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Following arraignment before Kent Town Justice Kevin Douchkoff, who was acting on behalf the Southeast Justice Court, Genao was held at the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond bail. He is due in court Tuesday. 

Police confiscated the gun.
